Adding a Group or Church in GAPP is a record of our faithfulness to the Great Commission and the fruit of our labor. By adding Groups and Churches in GAPP, we are better able to increase our vision of God's work, inform our prayers about God’s work, improve our preparation for God’s work, and invite others to participate in God’s work.

Because Templates are customizable by your Workspace owners, administrators, and creators, your version of this template may look slightly different. Questions may be phrased differently, be in a different order, or there may even be questions that do not appear in this article and video.

\uD83D\uDCD8 To record a “Group or Church” in GAPP

  1. Select the appropriate Team from the side menu and select Activities. 

  2. Now select the “Create Activity” button at the top of the screen. 

  3. From the drop-down list of Core Task categories, select “Church Formation” and the Group or Church activity will open automatically. 

  4. In the “Contributors” section, select the “Add Member” symbol and the “Search” box to include anyone else from the team who was with you. Select the "Add Members" button. 

    1. To prevent double counting of an activity, only one person should enter a church and be sure to add all the other people who were involved as contributors. 

  5. In the “Location” section, select the “Default,” or “Current” button to use one of those pre-set locations.  

    1. If neither of those is the correct location where the activity happened, select the Location selector to search for a different location. You can search for the location in the search box or move and zoom on the map to select the correct location. When you have the right location, select “Continue.”  

  6. In the “Is Active” section, select whether the group or church is still meeting 

    1. If you select “No” the “Date Ended” question will appear. Select the date the group or church stopped meeting. 

  7. In the “Date Started” section, select the date the group or church began meeting 

  8. In the “Name of Group or Church” section, enter the name or some other identifier for the group or church 

  9. In the “Identifies as a Church” section, select if the group identifies itself as a church 

  10. In the “How Often Meeting” section, select how often the group or church meets 

  11. In the “Has Appointed Leaders” section, select if the group or church has appointed leaders 

    1. If you select “Yes,” a new “Leaders’ Information” section appears. 

    2. In the “Leader’s Name” section enter the leader’s name 

    3. In the “Leader is from where?” section, select whether the leader was developed from within this group or church or came from outside 

    4. In the “Leader’s Gender” section, select whether the leader is male or female 

    5. In the “Is this Leader Trained?” section, select whether the leader has received training that includes how to teach and preach 

    6. If you need to add multiple leaders, you may add them using the “Repeat” button. 

  12. In the “Practices Believer’s Baptism” section, select if the group or church practices believer’s baptism 

    1. If you select “Yes,” the “Baptism from Where” section will appear. Select whether the individual who gives baptism is from within this group or church or from outside 

  13. In the “Practices Lord’s Supper” section, select if the group or church practices the Lord’s Supper 

    1. If you select “Yes,” the “Lord’s Supper from Where” section will appear. Select whether the individual who gives the Lord’s Supper is from within this group or church or from outside 

  14. In the “Actively Making Disciples” section, select if the group or church is actively making disciples 

  15. In the “Practices Giving” section, select if the group or church practices giving 

  16. In the “Regular Teaching from the Bible” section, select if the group or church has regular teaching or preaching from the Bible 

    1. If you select “Yes,” the “Teacher comes from Where?” section will appear. Select if the teacher comes from within this group or church or from outside 

  17. In the “Practices Serving One Another” section, select if the members of this group or church love, encourage, and serve one another 

  18. In the “Practices Accountability” section, select if the group or church practices accountability and church discipline 

  19. In the “Practices Prayer” section, select if the group or church practices prayer together and encourages individual prayer 

  20. In the “Practices Singing and Praising” section, select if the group or church regularly practices singing and praising in worship together 

  21. In the “Languages Used” section, select the languages used when the group or church meets. 

    1. Select one of your defaults or use the other option to select a different language from the list. By default, this brings up the languages that GAPP knows are near the location you selected, but if the language you are looking for is still not in the list, you can select the search box and type the name of the language you are looking for. 

    2. If there are multiple languages used, add them using the “Add Item” button. 

  22. In the “People Groups Attending” section, you can select the group or groups that attend the group or church.  

    1. For “People Group” you can select one of your defaults or use the other option to select a different people group from the list. By default, this brings up the people groups that GAPP knows are near the location you selected, but if the people group you are looking for is still not in the list, you can select the search box and type the name of the people group you are looking for. And of course, if you don’t know the people group, you can leave it as “Unknown.” 

    2. For “Language” you can select one of your defaults or use the other option to select a different language from the list. By default, this brings up the languages that GAPP knows are near the location you selected, but if the language you are looking for is still not in the list, you can select the search box and type the name of the language you are looking for. And of course, if you don’t know the language, you can leave it as “Unknown.” 

    3. For “Religious Background” you can select one of your defaults or use the other option to select a different religion from the list. By default, this brings up the religions that GAPP knows are near the location you selected, but if the religion you are looking for is still not in the list, you can select the search box and type the name of the religion you are looking for. And of course, if you don’t know the religion, you can leave it as “Unknown.” 

    4. In the “Number of Believers” section select how many members of this group or church from this people group are believers 

    5. In the “Number of Baptized Believers” section select how many of those believers from this people group have been baptized 

    6. If there are multiple People Groups, Languages, or Religions impacted, add them using the “Repeat” button. 

  23. In the “Global Segments” section, you can optionally select any social segments that attend the group or church. 

  24. In the “Comments” box, explain the activity in more detail and select Submit. 

  25. You will then return to your Team Dashboard with an “Activity Created Successfully” notification at the bottom of the screen. 

  26. If you make a mistake, or if the details about the group or church change, you can always select the edit button for the activity, make the necessary changes, and select save. 

 That’s it!  You have recorded another work of the Lord among all peoples and places.  Praise God for the work He is doing!
